Widening Participation Ambassadors


The Widening Participation Team are not recruiting new ambassadors or tutors during the Autumn term 2020.  If you are interested in becoming an ambassador or tutor, please check this page later in the academic year for updates. You can register your interest and leave contact details. We will email you as and when recruitment goes live again. 

The Widening Participation Outreach team is responsible for working with schools and colleges, delivering a range of events and activities.  We can help you become a WP Student Ambassador, a role in which you will work with young people in London to promote higher education, help raise aspirations and attainment and contribute towards a fairer society. This might involve supporting visit days to the university, talks in schools or tutoring young people.  

We are looking for students who enjoy working with young people and are organized, responsive and committed. The role requires you to be outgoing, friendly and approachable.

Benefits to getting involved 

It’s a great chance for you to develop your transferable skills whilst earning some money – it’s paid at £8 p/h plus holiday pay.  The role is very rewarding, flexible and fits around your studies. You will develop skills in communication, team work and problem solving.  

When does it take place? 

Events take place throughout the year.  WP Student Ambassadors are added to our mailing list and we get in touch with you each time we hold an event.  

Where does it take place? 

Many activities take place on campus, though there are opportunities to work in schools and colleges and attend events across London.

Who can apply? 

We accept applications from all students. To become a WP Ambassador you must: 

  • Complete the online application form
  • Be successful in an individual interview
  • Pass a DBS check 
  • Be prepared to register with Unitemps, and are thus required to be eligible to work in this country.
