Widening Participation Student Ambassadors

Inspire young people to think about university, share your passion for your studies and enhance your employability skills by signing up to the Widening Participation student ambassador scheme.

As an Ambassador you will work on online and on face-to-face events to:

• inspire young people to apply to university
• support them to achieve their potential
• build your skills and make a difference

Ambassadors will support the Widening Participation Outreach Team on events for young people in Year 5 through to Year 13 (9-18 years old), sharing your experiences on our online webinars, mentoring programme as well as on-campus events or visits to schools. The paid role is flexible and works around your studies. Ambassadors are paid £10.42 per hour + holiday pay.

It’s a great chance for you to develop your transferable skills whilst earning some money – it’s paid at £10.42 per hour plus holiday pay.  The role is very rewarding, flexible and fits around your studies. You will develop skills in communication, team work and problem solving.  

When does it take place? 

Events take place throughout the year.  WP Student Ambassadors are added to our mailing list and we get in touch with you each time we hold an event.  

Where does it take place? 

Many activities take place on campus, though there are opportunities to work in schools and colleges and attend events across London.

Who can apply? 

We accept applications from all students. To become a WP Ambassador you must: 

  • Complete the online application form
  • Be successful in an individual interview
  • Pass a DBS check 
  • Be prepared to register with Unitemps, and are thus required to be eligible to work in this country.
