Application of numeracy

Some may believe that having access to computers and calculators means that we no longer need to use many of the lessons that we learned in school on a day to day basis. To some extent it depends on the job area that you aspire to work in, but if you are able to apply mathematical solutions, it will be a major benefit in most fields of work.

Application of numeracy is not just about mathematical ability and confidence; it requires an understanding of the best ways to apply maths in a practical setting. It might entail demonstrating good estimation skills, understanding when a mathematical formula or computer logic would speed up an administrative task or spotting mistakes in a spreadsheet.

How can I improve my application of numeracy?
